Title and how long in ministry: Community Connection Pastor

I came on staff at Maiden Lane Church of God in October 2003 under the title Discipleship and Assimilation, following graduation from Anderson University School of Theology. But I’ve been around ministry my whole life, as I grew up the daughter of a music minister.

Family info (marital status and how long, child(ren), etc.):

My husband Steve and I married in December 2002, and welcomed Elijah Hunter into the world in November 2005.

How long have you had a relationship with Christ:

I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was seven years old, and grew in the knowledge of Christ through adolescence. However, it was following my senior year of college that I really surrendered to all that God had in store for me, and understood with depth the lifelong commitment I made in my childhood. I accepted God’s call to ministry in June 2001, during North American Convention.

Hobbies:

Scrapbooking, reading, hiking and biking with my family, playing in the Smoky Mountain streams with my child, long conversations with my husband

Favorite food:

Thai cuisine… and Karen Angles’ black raspberry cobbler

Favorite book(s):

Walking on Water by Madeline L’Engle; The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis; Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster; Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss

Favorite worship song(s):

Blessed Be Your Name, Indescribable, Chris Tomlin’s Amazing Grace and I Stand in Awe by the Parachute Band

Biblical person with whom you most identify:

I often identify with Jeremiah (and his laments), and with the impetuous nature of Peter; I am most challenged by the words of Christ and the testimony of Paul.

Life verse:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
